Jean-François Bette, partner in Steering Legal’s tax law team, has been a transactional tax lawyer since 1999.
He advises French and foreign groups on tax matters relating to their investments, restructuring and, more generally, their tax strategy, both in an advisory capacity and in litigation.
He handles transactional tax issues in collaboration with Steering Legal’s corporate M&A team, particularly those related to private equity transactions and mergers and acquisitions.
He has also developed expertise in property law and assists business leaders with the transfer of their businesses and individuals with inheritance tax issues.
He also has in-depth expertise in tax litigation, assisting clients in their relations and negotiations with the French tax authorities.
As head of Steering Legal’s office in the French West Indies (Martinique), he has extensive knowledge of the French market in this region and of all tax issues relating to overseas departments.
