Steering Legal continues to grow and strengthen its M&A team at its Lyon office with the appointment of Arthur Bonnet as partner.
Steering Legal’s rise to prominence is perfectly in line with the objectives the firm set itself when it opened. Following the creation of the Lyon office and the arrival of David Lussigny in January 2025, the firm, which is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary, now has 20 partners and around 60 associates.
Arthur Bonnet contributes to the development of the firm’s mergers and acquisitions practice, working within the Lyon team alongside Romain Luciani, Julie Ricot and Margot Lerissel, and in synergy with the Paris team. Arthur advises national and cross-border companies, SMEs and large groups on acquisitions and disposals in various sectors corresponding to those in which the Steering Legal network is positioned. He also assists numerous companies in negotiating strategic alliances, whether it be supporting start-up managers in fundraising operations or assisting international groups in developing their activities in France.
Arthur Bonnet, a solicitor for 10 years, joined the Lyon office in 2016 after gaining experience in Philadelphia, where he gradually shifted his practice towards strategic and legal advice to innovative companies, particularly in the digital economy and industry, supporting them in their growth projects and financing operations.
He sees his appointment as a natural progression in his professional career: “I am grateful to Romain Luciani for the training and opportunities he has given me. I couldn’t resist his offer to join this dynamic and entrepreneurial project, led by a team with complementary skills, which operates with complete transparency, which I believe is what our clients expect today. Technical expertise, availability and responsiveness are the watchwords of our team in providing an efficient service to our clients. I was also attracted by Steering Legal’s reputation and international network, but above all by a firm where the sharing of experiences between very different personalities seems to be the driving force behind its development. My ambition is to consolidate our M&A, corporate and private equity business with start-ups and scale-ups, professionals and more structured groups, both French and foreign, for their day-to-day legal needs and at every stage of their growth.
For Romain Luciani, founder of the Lyon office , “as we close our first financial year at Steering Legal with a strong balance sheet and excellent prospects, Arthur’s appointment is a good illustration of our strategy of controlled growth, closely aligned with our clients’ needs and our expertise. It is a real recognition of our project to be able to retain, in a spirit of pure commitment and transparency, profiles of Arthur’s calibre, whose curiosity, energy, dynamism, competence and human qualities could only reinforce our decision to make him a partner.”
For Nuno de Ayala Boaventura, managing partner of Steering Legal, “Arthur’s appointment is a major asset for our firm, both because of his human qualities, which are fully in line with our own, and because of his ability to anticipate challenges, propose innovative solutions and embody our values. This appointment reflects not only the quality of his work, but also his strong ability to contribute to the development of our business and generate new clients.‘
We are confident that Arthur will continue to play a key role in the years to come and that he will support the firm in its ambitions and projects.’
